Snap, Crackle, Pop… Pow?

Yep, you read that right. In 1955, the Rice Krispies trio was a brief quartet with an additional gnome named Pow.

Not much is known about Pow outside of the space helmet he wore and that his creation was solely based on sharing the nutritional value of the whole grain rice. He only stuck around for two commercials and never spoke in either one, making it difficult to figure out why he was there in the first place.

As for Snap, Crackle, and Pop’s speaking roles, who could forget their infamous jingle? Watch one of their 1950s commercials here with the complimentary jingle refrain for a singalong.

Snap, what a happy sound
Snap is the happiest sound I found
You may clap, rap, tap, slap,
But Snap makes the world go round
Snap, Crackle, Pop, Rice Krispies!
